MATHEMATICS

INTENT
We teach mathematics so that our children become fluent in mathematical concepts and skills (with accuracy and precise use of language); reason mathematically; and solve a variety of real life problems.
CORE LEARNING
Core Concepts:
- Fluency
- Reasoning
- Solve problems
For children to become fluent in mathematical concepts and skills, through varied and frequent practice; able to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately.
For children to reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language.
For children to solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of real life problems, breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions.
