As part of their project about crime and punishment, Y5 visited the Galleries Of Justice in Nottingham. They learnt about the history of justice in this country, and took part in the mock trial of “Fagin”, who was charged with being the worst of the worst. |

Many thanks to Adie, Sheri and Helen from Whisby Natural World Centre Lincoln. Year 3 learnt about fossils, the earth and soil. They got to hunt for their own fossils, then make plaster models of them from clay moulds, and be an active part of creating new humus soil by crushing, squeezing, crunching and breaking up organic material. |

Today Y3 and Crosby School experienced a Viking invasion, as a group of Nordic historians brought the past to life with stories, role play and materials used by some of the Viking invaders who occupied this country hundreds of years ago. We learnt about the culture and technologies used by them, and how their influence is still with us to this day. |

As part of a Year 3 Science DT project, the children from 3N have been learning all about magnetism and the properties of magnets. They were tasked with designing, building and presenting their own game based on magnets to the class. Migle, Amirul and Adam’s game was voted by their friends in 3N as the best. In this video we learn about how to play the game and how they came up with the winning design. The design will now be sent off to Santa’s elves just in time for Christmas! |

Minecraft after school club continues to be incredibly popular with its members. All children are invited to apply, successful candidates are chosen at random at the start of each half term, to attend once a week for 6-7 weeks (Mon, Wed or Fri 15:00-15:45). Minecraft Club is fun, but it does also promote cooperative play, web safety, maths, spatial awareness and a whole host of other skills which help to produce healthy happy children. |

Well done to Crosby Drum Club this week who visited members of Age UK, to perform some of their routines of percussion and rhythm. Drum Club are well known for using many different instruments and techniques, ranging from military marches to upturned buckets! The group were graciously received and were even asked to perform an encore. |

Today Crosby School and Y4 welcomed Ronulus the Roman solider into Crosby. He was kind enough to teach us all about the reign of the Roman Empire across Europe and our own shores. We learnt about the Roman way of life, military tactics, language and the legacy they've handed down to us, which we still use today. |

Andy Cope describes himself as a "professional trainer, qualified teacher, author and learning junkie". He is currently doing a Doctorate at the University of Loughborough... investigating the science of happiness and positivity. Andy came into Crosby today to speak to the school about his book series “Spy Dog” and about his programme of positivity and happiness. |

Many thanks to Father Eddie who showed all of Year 3 the inside of Holy Souls Catholic Church this morning, as part of their work this term on religion and our community. Father Eddie gave us a warm welcome on a rainy day, and introduced us to some key concepts of Catholicism, including Baptism, Easter and Christmas, as well as showing us around the inside of the Church to features like the font, the stained glass windows, the alter, organ, pews and lectern. |

Foundation Year began their journey onto the world of computing and electrical engineering this morning with the introduction to BeeBots. Beebots are used throughout the UK to teach KS1 and KS2 the principles of computer coding, commands and translating ideas into actual events. These next 2 weeks all of F2 will have the opportunity to try the BeeBots, where they will guide their robots around a course using commands of forwards, backwards, turn left or turn right. As their confidence grows, these skills then are used to operate more complicated computer programs . |

Former pupil and fitness champion Mr Cave, came into school today to promote a new initiative aimed at encouraging children to be healthy. Mr Cave comes from an organisation called ‘Living Streets’ and the programme is aptly called ‘Walk To School’. Everyday each child in class gets to use the white board to record how they travelled to school, if the child walks to school at least once a week for a month, they get to win a unique ‘Walk To School’ badge. |

These meetings will introduce you to your child’s new teacher, classroom topics, types of homework, days to remember PE kits, how to report absences, information about trips and lots of other useful information to help your family this year. Each session lasts about half an hour. No booking is needed, please just come to the school on the date and time below
