Dino Invasion

In half term, the school was unexpectedly invaded by dinosuars. They caused all sorts of damage around the school that the caretaker had to clean up. Luckily, the CCTV cameras captured some images so we could see what they got up to. A week later, we arrived to school to find a massive nest on the school field filled with 5 huge dinosaur eggs. The children were very excited about all of this so we have used it as an opportunity to create some fantastic pieces of writing in year 3/4. The children have written letters to their friends telling them all about it and also to Jurrasic Park asking for their advice on what to do if the dinosaurs return. They have also written some fantastic recounts and newspaper reports detailing everything that has been happening.

Easter Egg Decorations

Year 3/4 and 5/6 decorated hard boiled eggs this Easter to showcase their amazing design and artistic talent.

There were some really imaginative ideas again this year and competition was set to a very high level.

Some of the ideas included 'The Voice', 'Minecraft', Gravity, Training Soldiers and Where's Wally. The judge with the difficult task of finding a winner was Grant Ptolomey from Galliford Try; the company that built our school.

The photo shows the two selected 'overall' winners. Congratulations to you both and well done to everyone that entered as you all put so much time and effort into your fabulous entries.

Nick Sharratt Draws for Crosby

Nick Sharratt visited the school last week and read to Nursery and F2 children. He then led Year 1/2 through several drawings.

The children were very excited about the visit and produced some amazing drawings following the instructions given by Nick.

Nick has written and illustrated more than 40 books himself and he has illustrated books for several top children's authors, most notably Jacqueline Wilson. He has won numerous prizes for his work.

Everyone really enjoyed the visit - staff and pupils alike! wink

Y3/4 Viking Day

Y3/4 had a Viking Day to explore what life would have been like for a Viking child.

We started with a Thing (a meeting) to talk about what would happen. Classes became a Viking village and groups became Viking families. The children made clay pots, jewellery and shields. Some had a go at weaving and spinning.

Everyone agreed it had been an amazing day!
